Leo Patrick Hollenbeck, age 70, of Pinckney, MI, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022. He was born on June 18, 1952 in Ann Arbor, MI to Clifford Hollenbeck and Ellen Cecelia (Lobdell) Hollenbeck.
Leo grew up in Dexter, MI. He was a cub scout then boy scout. Leo attended the St. Joseph Catholic School through 8th grade, then graduated from Dexter High School, Class of 1970, where he played football.
In 1977, Leo graduated from Cleary College, Ypsilanti, MI, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree majoring in accounting. He became a Certified Public Accountant with membership in the Michigan Association of CPA's and the American Association of CPA's. He worked for Chrysler Corporation in Dexter, MI then Yeo & Yeo in Lansing, MI. Later, Leo became the Controller then Treasurer and Vice President for ALRO Steel Corporation in Jackson, MI. Leo served on the Board of Family Services & Children's Aid in Jackson, MI.
Leo enjoyed sports, being an avid fan of the University of Michigan. He particularly enjoyed golfing. Also, he enjoyed traveling. His favorite places were Hawaii and Las Vegas. On October 26, 1974, Leo married the love of his life, Heidi Renee Hiser Hollenbeck. They were married nearly 48 years. He loved his family. He was a man of faith, and celebrating Christmas was his joy. He and Heidi hosted "The Christmas Party" as a gift to their families for over 30 years.
Leo is survived by his loving wife, Heidi Renee Hiser Hollenbeck, brothers, John Cecil Hollenbeck (Clara) and Timothy Albert Hollenbeck (Chris), sisters-in-law, Janice Louise Lieffers Hollenbeck, Lori Lynne Miles Hollenbeck Ashcraft (Stan), and Sherri Lisa Hiser Holmen (Jeffrey); brothers-in-law, Johnie Meiers, Mark William Hiser (Lisa), many wonderful nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Jane Hollenbeck Wilson Meiers, brothers, Clifford James Hollenbeck, Michael Allen Hollenbeck, and his mother's second husband, Francis G. Birch.
Special thanks to a great friend, Michael Dettling (Tami) of Chelsea, MI, for his lifelong friendship and donating a kidney to transplant in Leo, giving him the gift of life. Thank you to Alvin Glick, ALRO Steel, Jackson, MI who helped Leo obtain the best medical care possible, along with all the doctors, nurses, therapists, and staff that have cared for Leo through the years. Thank you to Don and Lori Rademaker for your love and friendship.

Visitation will be held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the Dexter United Methodist Church, with Dr. Matt Hook and Rev. Tom Snyder co-officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be at Arborcrest Memorial Park in Ann Arbor.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Mayo Clinic, Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minnesota, or the Dexter United Methodist Church.
