Lois M. Zimmerman
Lois Milton Zimmerman, age 99, died peacefully in Saline, Michigan on February 2, 2023, after a long visit with her four children, Julia (Tom) Probasco of Indianapolis; Loisann (Bob) Arnold of Salem, MI, Cathy (Ric) Hardison of Charleston, WV, and Peter (Marilyn) Zimmerman of St. Louis.
She is survived by her brother, Peter (Edith) Milton, and was preceded in death by her son, Donald William Zimmerman Jr., sister, Anna Livingstone, and brother, William H. (Maryanna) Milton III. Lois was born on July 16, 1923, in Penn Yan, NY and was thrilled to live into her 100th year. She was the loving grandmother to six, and great-grandmother to eight, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She had the ability to become friends with many interesting people and touched the lives of many more. Lois was previously married to the late Rev. Donald W. Zimmerman.
During her life she lived in eight different states, and her adventurous spirit led her to many more states and interesting countries. Her home was usually shared with a cat or a dog or both.
Lois was an avid reader, an accomplished bridge player, and was seldom without knitting needles in hand, and a glass of wine nearby. During the first part of her life, she was a loving mother and a kindergarten teacher, spreading the joy of learning to many young lives. After retiring, she became Firefly, the Magic Clown, and continued to give joy to children and adults. She enjoyed the outdoors and began backpacking, skiing, kayaking, river rafting, and having many other adventures.
Lois's family wishes to thank the compassionate staff of Brecon Village, Life Choices,
and Arbor Hospice, and also her special friend, Ricardo Wyatt, for his never ending
support.
The family will have a private burial service. A celebration of life will be held at a later
date. To honor Lois, in lieu of flowers or monetary donations, please consider how you
can contribute to make the world a kinder place.
