Important information about your first visit to Mitchell Funeral Homes

Our funeral directors will assist you in planning a loving tribute that captures the spirit of the life you wish to honor and celebrate. During the arrangement conference, they will review your options and gather the necessary information to fully personalize the services you select.


What to bring

The following items and information will help your funeral director give better guidance as to how you would like to personalize the service or visitation. 

  • Photos

  • Music selections

  • Memorabilia

  • Notes about favorite activities and special gathering places


Understanding your options

The funeral director will provide our general price list at the arrangement conference, discuss your ideas and wishes, and use them as the foundation for planning a memorable and personal service. Our process will encompass the following:

  • Preparing and filing the official death certificate

  • Scheduling the location, date, and time of services/events

  • Selecting a casket, shroud, urn or other items

  • Preparing an obituary

  • Scheduling vehicles

  • Selecting pallbearers

  • Sign paperwork to authorize certain portions of the service (or make arrangements for signatures of the appropriate Next of Kin or Funeral Representative)


Important Information

Regardless of what type of service you select, the following list of information about the deceased is needed for your arrangement conference.

  • Full legal name

  • Home address

  • Social Security number

  • Date of birth

  • Place of birth

  • Father's name

  • Mother's maiden name

  • Recent Photograph

  • Highest level of education

  • Occupation and type of business or industry

  • Place of burial (if applicable)

  • Clothing (if applicable)

  • Clergy name and phone number

  • Survivors (name and relationship)

  • Insurance policies (if applicable)

  • Veteran's discharge papers (DD-214)

  • Military Discharge Papers
