Doreen E. Grosshans

Doreen E. Grosshans, age 76, of Unadilla Township, MI, passed away Saturday morning, June 8, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 29, 1948 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Dorr and Leona (Mault) Titus. She had lived in the area since the age of 19. She enjoyed reading, writing notes, texting, quilting, traveling, and attending steam shows. She loved birds of all kinds, especially watching the chickens. Her favorite pastime was visiting with her family and friends. She was an active member of Crossroads Community Church.

On June 12, 1976, she married Keith A. Grosshans in Gregory, and he survives. Also surviving are two children, Beth (Eric ) Kunzelman and Brian (Cheri) Grosshans, both of Gregory; two brothers, Doug (Deaon) Titus of Carlisle, Iowa, and Barry (Kim) Titus of Grass Lake, and one sister, Mary (Keith) Cronkhite of Rives Junction; six grandchildren, Austyn (MaKenna), Samantha, Brooke, Kayden, KC (Skye), and Christopher (Ciara); as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held at the Crossroads Community Church on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., as well as on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.

Funeral Services will be held at Crossroads Community Church on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Plainfield Cemetery.

Sandra K. Calloway

Sandra Kay Calloway, age 65, of Chelsea, MI, passed away on June 1, 2024, at Michigan Medicine Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. She was born on February 17, 1959, in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Jess and Rheubena "Bea" (Salyer) Fletcher.

Sandy spent most of her life in Chelsea. She graduated from Chelsea High School and on July 1, 1995, married Bart C. Calloway, who preceded her in death on February 2, 2024.

Sandy cherished the time she spent with her family and friends and had a love for the outdoors. She found joy in fishing and treasured the moments spent at the family cabin on Indian Lake near Manistique.

She is survived by her son, Liam (Jessica) Calloway, her step-son, Beau Calloway, four grandchildren, and her brother, Larry (Gayle) Fletcher of Chelsea. In addition to her husband, Sandy was preceded in death by her sister, Sherry Fletcher.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Douglas Roy Snider

Douglas Roy Snider, of Manchester, passed away at the Henry Ford Hospice Home in Jackson, Michigan on May 27, 2024.

He was born the son of Roy H. and Evelyn F. (Van Worner) Snider on October 9, 1939 in Jackson, Michigan. On November 25, 1961, he married Faye Ann (Freed), and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Scott D. Snider and Steve (Pamela) Snider; grandchildren, Corey (Meredith) Snider and Samantha (Gregg) Koebbe; great-grandchildren, Valerie, Scarlett, Parker and Maisyn.  

Doug was a wonderful provider for his family and worked for the Ford Motor Company for 34.5 years.  In his younger years, he was an All-State football player. He enjoyed building things with his hands and even raced stock cars. He was very proud of his John Deere tractor. 

Per his wishes cremation has taken place, and a private service and burial will take place in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan at a later date.

Michael A. Horn

Michael Allen Horn, age 61, of Chelsea, MI, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family. Mike was born on January 23, 1963, in Grand Blanc, MI, the son of John and Mavis (Kirby) Horn.

On July 23, 2008, he married Cynthia (Miller) in Ann Arbor, MI, and they made their home in Chelsea for the past 16 years. Before settling in Chelsea, Mike lived in Ann Arbor and Manchester. He dedicated many years of his life to working as a truck driver. Mike was a man of simple pleasures who found great joy in fishing and working on his pick-up truck.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; his daughter, Kathryn Horn of Owosso, and his step-son, TJ (Marlynda) Miller of Westland; his grandson, Trent; his brother, Rick Horn of Texas, and his sister, Cathy Robeldo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Theresa Horn, and his son, Joel Horn.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Lorna J. Boston

Lorna Jean (Webber) Boston, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Legacy Assisted Living in Jackson, MI.

She was born on December 22, 1931 in Leslie, MI, the youngest child of James H. and Lena M. (French) Webber. Lorna spent her younger years on the Webber family farm in Leslie and went on to graduate from Leslie High School and attend clerical courses in Jackson. She enjoyed spending her time reading, doing needlework, collecting antiques and glassware, and gardening.

On May 29, 1952 she married Roy Allen Boston in Battle Creek, MI. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2017, which was Memorial Day that year and also their 65th wedding anniversary. Lorna and Roy both passed away on Memorial Day.

Lorna is survived by her nieces and nephews: Pat Withiem, Joyce Babbitt, Jim (Georgi) Lumbard, Gary (Mary) Lumbard, Madeline Lothamer, Wes (Tracy) Webber, Tom (Karen) Webber, Mary (Bob) Hilleary, Linda Wigle, and Bill (Gina) Webber; many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews; and her sister-in-law, Donna Webber Perry. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her siblings: Evelyn Tasker, Bessie Byerly Dewey, Harley Webber, Georgia Lumbard Maxwell, Bob Webber, Dick Webber, and Bill Webber; and nieces and nephews: Ann Moll, Jim Webber, Bob Lumbard, and David Lumbard.

A graveside service and interment will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leslie, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Legacy Assisted Living/Legends and Careline Hospice for the wonderful care and comfort they provided Lorna.

Pansy Allen

Pansy Allen, of Stockbridge, MI, age 78, passed away on May 26, 2024 at Chelsea Hospital.

Pansy was born on May 9, 1946 in Salyersville, KY, the daughter of Tollie and Myrtle (Patrick) Stanley. She had lived in the Stockbridge area since 1990, and prior to that she had lived in the Bradenton/Sarasota area of Florida for many years.

Pansy worked many jobs throughout her life. She was a hairdresser and owned her own beauty shop in Chelsea. She enjoyed assisting fair queen candidates during fair time with their hair. She also worked for ADP for 15 years, and she was a dedicated caregiver for many years. Pansy was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed quilting, sewing, and doing crafts. She found joy in gardening and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed playing the piano and loved listening to country music.

Pansy is survived by two children, Todd Kuhl of Grass Lake, and Tina (Keith) Slater of St. Pete Beach, FL; the father of her children, Bob Kuhl; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan Pennington of Chelsea, and Jacob (Lauren) Pennington of Orlando; and her great-grandchildren, Oliver and Benjaman; her twin sister, Patsy (Bob Mock Sr.) Stanley, and sister, "Sandy" (Bob Wilson) Parks of Texas. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Wayne Stanley, Delmer Stanley, Darrel Stanley, and Glenn Stanley, and two sisters, Lois Berryhill and Lillian Glaser.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, date and time to be announced.

Mark J. Yonish

Mark J. Yonish, of Wayne, MI, age 66, passed away on May 26, 2024 in Stockbridge, MI. Mark was born on November 23, 1957 in Livonia, MI, the son of John and Barbara (Molinik) Yonish. Mark had lived in Wayne, MI for the past 10 years, and prior to that he lived in Stockbridge.

Mark had a passion for boating and cherished his time spent at the lake, especially the summers he spent at Houghton Lake during his younger years. He helped coach high school wrestling at Bentley High School in Livonia, where he impacted many lives through his commitment and mentorship.

Mark is survived by two children, Dillon Yonish (Aubrey Schaefer) of Stockbridge, and Nicholas (Loren) Yonish of Gregory, MI; the mother of his children, Kimberly (Christopher) Schniers; two grandchildren, Brooks and Bodie; two sisters, Darlene (Donald) LeAnnais of Livonia, and Patricia (James) Hamlet of Romulus; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Kathryn Aalto.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, 12:00 p.m., at Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Burial will take place at Plainfield Cemetery in Unadilla Twp.

Thomas G. Sorenson

Thomas G. Sorenson, of Jackson, MI, age 78, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024 surrounded by family and friends after a short illness.

Tom was born on December 21, 1945 in Council Bluffs, IA to John and Frances (Fisher) Sorenson. As a young boy, Tom moved to Jackson, MI, where he graduated from Jackson High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army during Vietnam, receiving an honorable discharge in 1968. Following his military service, Tom worked as a machinist for Melling Tool Company dedicating 42 years until his retirement.

Tom was a man of many talents and interests. He had a passion for woodworking and enjoyed working in his yard. A talented carpenter, he found joy in building and making repairs, always eager to use his hands to create and fix.

He married Eunice Shepherd on June 9, 1984 in Jackson, MI, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Debbie (Leroy) Dowding of Charlotte, David Sorenson of Onondaga, Stephanie (Curtis Reynolds) Wright of Jackson, and Steve (Amber) Shepherd of Jackson; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his twin brother, Gordon Sorenson of Council Bluffs, IA, and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Sorenson of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew B. Thompson, a sister, Joann Weis, and three brothers, Gene Sorenson, John Sorenson, and Joe Sorenson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Village Hope Church in Jackson, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.

A private burial will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery, Stockbridge.

Stephen J. Clark

Stephen J. Clark, age 57, of Mason, MI, passed away on May 22, 2024. He was born on December 7, 1966, in Jackson, MI, the son of Lee and Betty (Boring) Clark.

Stephen worked as a Warehouse Manager for Safety-Kleen in Mason, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. Outside of his professional life, Stephen had a passion for muscle cars and John Deere tractors. He also took great pleasure in music, making people laugh, and working in his yard.

On March 26, 2019, Stephen married Shannon D. (Millhouse) in Tennessee, and she survives him. He is also survived by his children, Jessica (Kevin) Dwight, Michael Clark, and Mitchel Clark, all of Stockbridge, and his step-children, Evan Pregitzer of Munith, Kassie Vanantwerpen of Spring Lake, Grace Pregitzer of Munith, and Sarah Pregitzer of Munith. Additionally, Stephen is survived by his sister, Shelley Gottschalk of Dansville, and his beloved grandchildren, Presley and Briar. Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Lee, in May 2023.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Edward D. Abbey

Edward D. Abbey, of Munith, MI, age 71, passed away on May 19, 2024 in Jackson, MI.

Edward was born on September 29, 1952 in Jackson, MI, the son of Dale and Kathleen (Oaks) Abbey. He had lived in Jackson County most of his life. He married Bonnie Jean (Wright) on September 7, 1974, and she survives. Edward's life was marked by his passion for tinkering with cars, a skill he honed over many years as a dedicated mechanic. He had a love for trains and a fascination with astronomy and the mysteries of the paranormal. He also had a soft spot for cats.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Cristina (Nova) Lindow of California, Melissa (Ian) McClure of Stockbridge, and Edward (Paige) Abbey of Stockbridge; as well as four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home in Stockbridge, MI, with Pastor Stephan Weinberger officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Burial will take place at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Henrietta Township, MI.
