Donald Lee Harris, Sr., age 82, died and went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 16, 2021. He was born on August 2, 1938, in Detroit, MI, son of Wilbur and Grace (Lotz) Harris.
Donald was raised on the shores of Sugarloaf Lake in the Chelsea area, and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1958. On October 24, 1959, he married Beulah E. (Noye) in Chelsea, MI, and they began a wonderful life together. Donald was a plant manager for an Ypsilanti papermill for 34 years before retiring. He was a member of Faith Baptist Chapel in Napoleon, MI, and he enjoyed golfing, sharing Bible stories, and collecting VHS tapes, vinyl records, and various cookbooks. Painting ceramics was another favorite pastime.
In addition to his wife, Beulah, survivors include his children, Jeanette (Steve) O’Donnell of Dexter, MI, Donald (Paula) Harris, Jr. of Chelsea, and Donna (Todd) Moening of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) O’Donnell, Emily Harris, Donald Lee (Brittany) Harris III, Aubrey (Blake) McPheters, Tyler (Casey) Moening, and Tara (Zach) Moening; great-grandchildren, Jaelyn, Rylan, Madison, Luciano, Evelyn, Eudora, and James; great-great-grandson, Cooper; and extended family member, James Pierson. He was predeceased by his parents, son, John Harris, sister, Donna Sherman, and his great-granddaughter, Carter Jean McPheters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021, 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea. The funeral service and burial are private. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Donald’s name to Faith Baptist Chapel.
