Edsel Carpenter, age 86, of Stockbridge, MI passed away on November 14, 2021 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. He was born May 15, 1935 in Royalton, Kentucky, the son of Ellis L. and Adeline (West) Carpenter. He had lived in the Stockbridge/Chelsea area all of his life, one of eight children.
Edsel was always a good cook. In his high school days, he would wake up early and make pies for the restaurant in Stockbridge. He was known for the best fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, and his banana pudding and cabbage rolls. Edsel was also a musician. He could play the organ, the piano, the accordion, and the guitar. He worked as an accountant for many years for Coca Cola as well as Sears Roebuck.
He is survived by three siblings, Carl Carpenter of Jackson, Judy (John) Jedele of Chelsea, and Janet Carpenter of Chelsea, a sister-in-law, Sue Carpenter, and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, Stockbridge.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Highest Praise Worship Center in Stockbridge or Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
