Larry Edward McClure, age 69, passed away peacefully in his residence in Chelsea, MI, on July 6, 2021, and he is now at home with Christ after an extended battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born in Adrian, MI on January 3, 1952, son of the late Daryle Edward and Doris Jane (Moore) McClure. On August 14, 1993, in East Lansing, MI, he was united in marriage to Deborah Ann Wauer at the MSU Chapel on campus.
Larry graduated from Onsted High School, and was a graduate of Western Michigan University, majoring in Business Administration. In his professional life, Larry was an analyst with Consumers Energy, retiring in 2010 after decades of service. Larry was an active sports enthusiast and enjoyed running, bicycling, hiking, and other outdoor activities. He was a beloved husband and friend who loved Christ, his family, his community, and his nation. Larry’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life, giving himself and those around him encouragement and strength. His positive attitude, inspirational words, and smile are unforgettable.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah, of Chelsea; his sister, Sandra Lee Stark (Jerry) of Jackson, MI; and two nieces. Larry was predeceased by his parents.
A Memorial Service is being held on Monday, July 12, 2021, 3:00 p.m., at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea. A gathering of friends and family will take place the same day, 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Immediately following the Memorial Service, a meal will be shared at the Dexter Gospel Church, 2253 Baker Road, Dexter, MI. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are welcomed in Larry’s name to Arbor Hospice, 2366 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48103, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611, or Dexter Gospel Church.
