Sylvia Louise Hampton was born October 31, 1933 in Paragould, Arkansas to Jack and Mildred Smith. She was one of nine children. She passed away at the age of 87 on September 28, 2021 with her family by her side. She married Francis (Marion) Hampton on November 19, 1949, and they had two sons, Fred of Stockbridge, MI, and James of Belleville, MI, and they both survive. She had five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A few of the many things she enjoyed were quilting, sewing, going to garage sales, and camping, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sisters, Velta and Mary, and one brother, Edward. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 62 years, two sisters, Lola and Betty, and three brothers, LD, MJ and Carl James.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow at Alban Cemetery in Ypsilanti, MI.
