Rodger Dale Messner, age 67, of Munith, MI, passed away on November 15, 2022 at his home. Rodger was born on November 23, 1954 in Jackson, MI to Dale and Ethel (Stanfield) Messner.
Rodger had lived in the Munith area his entire life. He married his first love, Linda Sherrod. Although their marriage ended in divorce, she was helpful to him through his illness and at the end of his life.
Rodger had two daughters, and they survive him: Roxanna (Jim) Green of Grass Lake, and Cheryl (Jamie) Sweezey of Jackson. He is also survived by a sister, Janet (Phil) Criner of Jackson; three grandchildren, Dale (Sonya) Green, Gracie Messner, and Isaac Sweezey; two great-granddaughters, Joyce Green and Elena Green; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Shirley Clemons, Mabel Whal, and Sharon Fidler, and a brother, Ray Messner.
Although he was known for being stubborn, Rodger had a strong love for his family. He also loved hunting, fishing, and being in the woods, and watching Westerns.
A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced at a later date. The family would like to express their gratitude to his nieces, Bonnie and Trina Hawkins, as well as the staff of Henry Ford Hospice. Arrangements by Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea.
