James “Buddy” Harrison Hunter Jr., age 87, of Munith, Michigan, sadly left us on Monday, July 15, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Mae, and seven of his children: Ella Jane Hunter, Gwen Hunter, Lisa Hunter-Sellers (James), Gloria Cranmore (Howard), Lucinda Elaine Hunter, Wendy Hunter, and James Harrison Hunter III (Amanda). He had 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Peggy Sue Davis (Rick), his parents, James H. Hunter Sr. and Ella Jane Hunter, his siblings: Esther Mae Goodman, Susan Hunter, Earl Joseph Hunter, Willie Anthon Hunter, Lorenzo Virl Hunter, Rupert Amos Hunter, Lucinda Alice Kidd, Robert Philip Hunter, and his grandson, Christopher Pacholek.
Buddy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed playing basketball, shooting guns, riding horses, and watching Westerns on TV. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Throughout his life, he was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He retired from Chelsea Milling Company (Jiffy Mix). He will always be known as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, 5:00 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3019 W Morrell St, Jackson, MI, where the family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Burial will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2024, 3:00 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Munith, MI.
