Patsy M. "Pat" Schmell, age 82, of Chelsea, MI, passed away on March 6, 2023 in Brighton, MI. Patsy was born on September 21, 1940 in Gun Creek, KY to Arthur and Pearlie (Howard) Marshall.
She moved to Michigan when she was 16 years old. She met her husband, James P. Schmell, and they married on December 22, 1962 in Chelsea where they raised their family. Jim and Pat were life members of the Free Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Faith and family meant everything to her. She had a good heart and soul.
Pat loved bluegrass and gospel music. She loved to sing and dance, and she loved singing in her bluegrass group that met every week. She loved being outside, working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She also enjoyed canning. Pat worked for Chelsea Milling Company for 43 years and retired in 2002.
Pat is survived by three children, Renee Schmell of Chelsea, Rachel (Eric) Engelmeyer of Florida, and Kim Schmell of Florida; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her siblings, Emogene Push, Ross Marshall, and Roleigh Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Pearlie Marshall, her husband, James P. Schmell; her siblings, Sonny, Jessie, Earl, and Lora Marshall; her son, Aaron Schmell, an infant grandson, Aaron Buchanan, and niece, Vicki Push.
Visitation will be held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at Oak Grove East Cemetery.
