Kathleen Salyer, age 94, formerly of Chelsea and Stockbridge, passed away on November 1, 2023 at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in Gregory, MI. Kathleen was born on October 27, 1929 in Magoffin County, KY, the daughter of Sheridan and Rebecca (Risner) Marshall. Kathleen had lived in Chelsea for many years, and she worked for Chelsea Milling Company in the packaging department for 22 years. She later moved to the Stockbridge area to be closer to family. She enjoyed going to church and attended the Highest Praise Worship Center in Stockbridge. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting. On September 25, 1947, she married Charles E. "Buck" Salyer, and he preceded her in death in 1987.
Kathleen is survived by her son, Danny (Phyllis) Salyer of Stockbridge, son-in-law, Jack Baum; a sister, Opal Risner of Plainwell, and brother, Ellis (Markeen) Marshall of Plainwell; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Allen and Lorraine Baum, and a son, Robert Salyer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 4, 2023, 2:30 p.m., Charlotte Craft with officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
