Dana D. Zamiara, age 78, of Williamston, MI crossed over on May 21, 2021. She was born February 13, 1943 in Jackson, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Sylvia (Morehouse) Dieterle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven B. Zamiara on December 6, 2006, and son, Steven B. Zamiara II on January 27, 2007, her parents, her step-father, J.R. Lewis, and her brother-in-law, Dennis McVay on December, 13, 2008.
She is survived by her daughter, Nickole Zamiara of Santa Inez, CA; daughter-in-law, Elize Zamiara, and granddaughter, Anastasia Zamiara, both of San Diego, CA; sisters, Rhoda McVay of Stockbridge, MI, and Sarah Raelene Hamrick of Poquoson, VA; nieces, Sarah McVay (James Foukes) of Glen Burnie, MD, Krisie Hamrick of Hawaii; nephews, Todd (Kathy) Hamrick of Raleigh, NC, Andrew Hamrick of Poquoson, VA, Scott McVay of Stockbridge, MI; and three great-nieces and one great-nephew.
She was educated at Stockbridge High School, Jackson Business College, Lansing Community College, and Northwood Institute. She worked 30 years for the State of Michigan, retiring in 1992 as Personnel Liaison for the State Liquor Commission. Steven also retired, and they moved to Raleigh, NC. She moved back to Michigan in 2016. She had a passion for genealogy and loved to garden and travel. Her love of singing began in high school, and she never quit, including 25 years in the main and funeral choirs of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Raleigh. She was a trustee of the Stockbridge Area Genealogical Society, a life-member of the Lansing Liederkranz Club, and a member of St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Okemos, MI.
She has been cremated, and at her request there will be no memorial service. As she was a three time cancer survivor, memorials may be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation or the Lansing Liederkranz Club, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge.
