Barbara Grace Edridge, age 97, passed away on October 31, 2023 in Brighton, MI. Barbara was born on January 20, 1926 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Sylvester and Mary Alma (Kavanagh) Kennedy. She graduated from St. Mary Catholic School in Detroit in 1945.
Barbara married Herbert Edridge on July 25, 1958, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 2023. Barbara loved to travel. Together with her husband, family and friends she went on over 100 cruises. She traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean Islands. She loved being on the water. In her younger days, she worked as a bookkeeper, nurse’s aide and cook on a superyacht which her husband captained. Barbara and Herbert were snowbirds, having had homes in Welaka and Eustis Florida, and Pontiac, Michigan. She was a gracious host on their boat, Lady Bea, where she enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She loved to watch her TV programs and was faithful to The Young and the Restless for over 50 years. She was also an avid reader and liked listening to books on tape.
Barbara is survived by a sister, Mary Anne (Russ) Kraft, nieces and nephews: Judith (Mark) Westerberg, Aileen Jacobs, Eileen Ward, and Sandra (Lance) Hudnell, Paul Frederick and Patrick (Stacy) McGee; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by her sisters Mary Joan (Tom) McGee, Maureen Kennedy and niece Gail Babb. The family would like to thank Barbara’s caregivers over these last few months for their supportive care.
Remembrances can be made through donations to the National Shrine of St Jude, Chicago, Illinois. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church in Pinckney on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
