Judith A. Glynn

Judith A. Glynn, age 79, of Stockbridge, MI, went to be with her Savior on December 30, 2022. Judy was born on July 13,1943 at Providence Hospital in Detroit to Elmer and Aletha (Foell) Lehman.

Judy graduated in 1961 from Stockbridge High School and then went to Select Beauty Academy in Jackson. After graduating, she returned to the Stockbridge area to work at Luella's and June's Beauty Shop. On November 28, 1964, she married the love of her life, Rex D. Glynn, Jr. at St. Jacob Ev. Lutheran Church. They moved to the Gregory area where they raised three sons.

Surviving are three sons, J. Scott (Christine) Glynn of Grass Lake, Michael (Jeanie) Glynn of Midland, and Jonathan (Angie) Glynn of Portage; six grandchildren, Nicholas Glynn, Cari (Bobby) Cook, Megan Glynn, Katelyn Glynn, Marjorie Glynn, and Emma Glynn; two brothers, Michael (Deborah) Lehman of Grand Rapids, Nathan (Susan) Lehman of Lansing; brother-in-law, James McDaniels, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Aletha Lehman, her husband, Rex, sister, Kathy McDaniels, and infant twin brothers, Mathew and Melvin Lehman.

Judy loved to sew quilts and plant flowers. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at St. Jacob Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Kurt Uhlenbrauck officiating. Burial will be at St. Jacob Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Myrle Jean Kunzelman

Myrle Jean Kunzelman, of Munith, MI, age 93, passed away on December 27, 2022. She was born on January 12, 1929 in Webberville, MI to Roy and Mildred (Cook) McClinchey.

On November 9, 1956, she married Milford "Turp" Kunzelman, and he preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and LeRoy, and sister, Esther.

Throughout her life, Jean held various jobs and retired from D&C Stores in 1993. She loved to square dance, play cards, knit and crochet, and travel. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Jean leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Debi, grandsons, Chad (Erin) and Shawn (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Kelsey (Jake) Winnie, Aaron (Marissa) Kunzelman, and Chase Kunzelman; great-great-grandchildren, Grayson and Addison Winnie, and Myles and Natalie Kunzelman. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Frieda Meredith and Barb McClinchey, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge her caregivers, Chad and Erin. Over the last few years, they have taken exceptional care of her, and it is truly appreciated. Also thank you to Elara Caring Hospice.

Mildred J. "Millie" Wellhoff

Mildred J. “Millie” Wellhoff, of Chelsea, age 86, passed away on December 26, 2022 in Whitmore Lake, MI.

Mildred was born on March 31, 1936 in Chelsea, MI to Herman and Elsa (O'Brien) Wellhoff. She had lived in Chelsea her entire life. Millie was a hard worker and worked for many years at the T&A Truck Stop and Weber's Inn. She loved being at home and was a loving caregiver to her mother.

Millie is survived by two brothers, Richard Wellhoff and Kenneth Wellhoff, three nephews, Doug, Michael, and Patrick, and one niece, Michelle. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Wellhoff, and sister, Helen (Bill) Joseph, and sister-in-law, Marion Wellhoff.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, 3:00 p.m., at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m.

Burial will be at Oak Grove East Cemetery on Monday, January 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

Dr. Garland D. Scott, Jr.

Dr. Garland Douglas Scott, Jr., of Grass Lake, MI, age 70, passed away surrounded by family on December 23, 2022 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI.

Garland entered the world on March 25, 1952 in Ft. Knox, Kentucky to his parents, Frances and Garland Scott, Sr.

A proud graduate of Western Kentucky University, Garland went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Kentucky, where he graduated with distinction.

Prior to his esteemed career as an OB/GYN, Garland had a decorated run in the United States Army as an Officer culminating in his Honorable Discharge with the distinguished rank of Major.

Garland delivered thousands of babies during the course of his career and had an impact on multiple generations. The Jackson Health Network is forever impacted by the accomplishments of Dr. Garland Scott.

Garland enjoyed traveling, playing golf, working with his hands, and spending time in his yard, not far from his beloved K-9, Taz. During his retirement one of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren compete in various sporting events. Rain, sleet, or snow, he and Michelle were always spectators in support of their grandchildren.

On August 9, 2003, he married Michelle S. (Hanna), and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Christine (Jamie) White of East Lansing, Doug (LaToya) Scott of Jackson, Stephanie Scott of Chicago, Christine (Craig) Urwin of Maine, and Ryan (Coco) Koch of Hawaii; nine grandchildren: Derrick, Alexander, Cameron, Hailey, Alexandra, Gilles, Ernie, Sean, and Marion. Also surviving are his siblings, Carol Seay of Kentucky, Peggy (Monnie) Hankins of Kentucky, and Mark Scott of Baltimore. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Alexander, brother, Aaron Scott, and brother-in-law, Will Seay.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Country Club of Jackson on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. A light reception will follow. The family will receive friends at the Country Club from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Linwood A. Howlett

Linwood A. Howlett, age 83, of Webberville, MI, passed away on December 24, 2022 at his home.

Linwood was born on November 26, 1939 in Stockbridge, MI to Bruce and Dora Mae (Walker) Howlett. He had lived in the Williamston area for the past 30 years. Linwood served in the United States Army from 1959-1962. He worked for many years as a plumber for Howlett Plumbing and a pipe fitter at General Motors. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist in East Lansing. He enjoyed working on cars or anything that was mechanical, riding dirt bikes, as well his Sunday rides on his motorcycle with friends, and he loved ice cream.

He married Marlene (Warfle) on April 16, 1959, and she preceded him in death in 2007. He then married Nancy (Vaughn) Crandall, and she survives. Also surviving are children, Jody (Bruce) Lantis of Dansville, and Jeff (Darlene) Howlett of Texas, Melanie (Harold) West of Jackson, Melinda (Randy) Hutson of Rockford, and Patrick Widmayer of Illinois; seven grandchildren: Melissa, Matthew, Macy, Taylor, Bryce, Kenna, and Melissa; and four great-grandchildren, Madalynn, Julia, Kenzie, and John. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Howlett.

A Graveside Service will be held at North Stockbridge Cemetery at a later date.

Joseph Patrick Davison

Joseph Patrick Davison, age 78, of Gregory, MI, passed away on December 21, 2022 at his home. He was born October 13, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of John and Shirley (Mannix) Davison.

Pat married Ardyth Lee (Doss) on June 3, 1966, and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Scott Davison of Gregory, and Colleen Shields of Gregory; three grandchildren, Brianna, Gabrielle, and Lukas; and two brothers, Paul (Dieth) Davison of Norway, and Phil (Jane) Davison of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pat had lived in the Gregory area for the past 36 years, moving from South Lyon. He attended the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS. He served in the United States Army for 24 years, and was a member of the American Legion Mackinder-Glenn Post #510. He loved his Ford 8N tractor, and he loved to mow. He also enjoyed clogging and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta Twp., MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or Livingston County EMS.

Michael V. "Mike" Hafner

Michael V. Hafner, age 55, of Chelsea, MI, unexpectedly passed away on December 20, 2022.

Mike was born on November 17, 1967 in Ann Arbor, MI to Vincent and Wiletta (Lantis) Hafner. He graduated from Chelsea High School, Class of 1985. He attended Northwestern Business College. After college, Mike worked as a mechanic at Palmer Ford. He then worked for Chrysler Proving Grounds in the Vehicle Emissions Department for over 20 years.

He was a SAL member of the American Legion Herbert J. McKune Post #31. He loved to know how things worked and enjoyed learning how to fix them. He also loved spending time outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, and having bonfires. He was a life long resident of Chelsea and loved being around people sharing stories. He was an avid collector of everything. He loved spending time with his children and sharing his knowledge of life with them.

Mike is survived by two children, Michael Jr. (Kaitlyn) Hafner of Jackson, and Ashley Damm of Dexter; his grandchildren Eli, Rose, and Mason; the mother of his children, Laura Damm of Brooklyn; and seven siblings: John (Malinda) Hafner of Huntsville, Alabama, Denise Hafner of Chesterfield, Kathryn (John) Taylor of Chelsea, Jeryl (Joseph) Torrice of Grass Lake, Thomas Hafner of Waterloo, Marilyn Hafner (Richard Patton) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Michelle (Mike) Taylor of Jackson; and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Eric Hafner, and a niece, Sarah Taylor.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Chelsea.

Thelma Howes

Thelma Howes, of Jackson, MI, age 78, passed away on December 15, 2022 at her home.

She had lived in the Jackson area for the past 20 years, moving from Leslie. Thelma was born April 12, 1944 in Stockbridge, MI, the daughter of Frank and Rachel Mary (Salyers) Minix. She worked in the Remanufacturing Department of General Motors for 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved dog, Bandit.

Thelma is survived by two children, Kevin Howes of Jackson, and Amy Howes of Eaton Rapids; her grandchildren, Emily Howes, Abbey Howes, and Wyatt Walker; and nieces, Faye and Genevieve, and nephew, Barry. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Raleigh Minix, Roy Minix, Roland Minix, Winford Minix, Winnie Montgomery, and Ora Mae Hubbs.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 1:00- 3:00 p.m. at Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, MI.

Perry "Pete" Fletcher

Perry “Pete” Fletcher, age 64, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away on November 22, 2022 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital due to a long illness.

Pete had lived in Michigan most of his life. He loved to be outdoors and enjoyed coon hunting. He also helped his family working on their farm. He worked as a commercial carpet layer for over 20 years, and he was a mechanic and enjoyed working on cars and trucks.

Pete enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren. They were so very special to him, and he loved them beyond measure. Two and a half years ago, he made peace with God and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour.

In September of 1981, Pete married Carol Sue (Arnold), and she survives. Also, surviving are his children, Jordon Fletcher of Jackson, Jessica Fletcher of Jackson, and Jacob Fletcher of Georgia, Chad Back of Jackson; three sisters, Louise Hale and Kathy “Pat” (Powell) Perkins, all of Stockbridge, and Charlette (Dan) Freeman of Jackson; sister-in-law, Carol Fletcher; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Bailey) Fletcher, Maison Fletcher, Emmalee Laraway, Shaian Fletcher, A.J. “Buck'' Hickman, Cayden Beaman, Connor Beaman, and Mandalinn Back; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wheeler and Mae Fletcher, a son, Joshua Fletcher, two brothers, Frank “George” Fletcher and Johnnie Fletcher, a sister, Bonnie Back, a nephew, Jerry Phillips, and a great-great-niece, Ruby Fletcher.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Highest Praise Worship Center, 5107 S. Clinton St, Stockbridge.

Genevieve M. "Genny" Patrick

Genevieve M. "Genny" Patrick, age 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 12, 2022. Genny was born on February 22, 1927 in Monroe, MI to James Levi and Sarah (Navarre) Baum.

She had lived in the Stockbridge area since she was three years old. Genny enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and canning. She was a wonderful baker, baking bread and making specialty cakes for graduation and weddings. She worked for Dart Container for 20 years. She was also a member of Jeruel Baptist Church.

Genny is survived by six children, Wanda Bradley of Jackson, Charlene Brown of Pleasant Lake, Doug (Carol) Patrick of Grass Lake, Calleen (Larry) Cavender of Munith, Dianna (Ted) Carpenter of Stockbridge, and Carson (Toni) Patrick of Munith; 17 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren (plus 1 on the way), and 21 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Salyer of Stockbridge, and two brothers, James (Edna) Baum of Alabama, and Laverne Baum of Pleasant Lake. She was preceded in death by her son, Dakota Patrick, and infant son, Mark Patrick, grandson, Joseph D. Brown, great-grandson, Casey Kemplin, sister, Myrtle Doxtader, and brother, Merlin Baum.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at Jeruel Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Swieringa officiating. Burial will follow at North Waterloo Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., as well as on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
